Well, the house deal continues to be a puzzle. Why this and why that. Not why me Lord - not that kind of why but as we have watched this drama unfold (OK I have watched - Larry is smack in the middle of it) we've had to wonder. We've had some high stress moments but those moments haven't ruled the situation because we have just consistently made that decision to trust Father. But we've also wondered what he might be doing in the life of another person that's involved. I'll be cryptic here because of not wanting to talk about someone else. This person more than us must be shaking his/her head and wondering how things could have happened the way they did.

There is a quote I took out of a novel once. I wrote it down and I just thought it was one of the most profound things I ever read or heard and still think so. It seems very appropriate here and helps me to keep this house deal in perspective.

So I'll share and I hope it encourages you if you ever find yourself in a perplexing moment wondering why things are happening the way they are.

All matters have an explanation, but the issues are so complex that you could never fully grasp their significance. God’s plan for each and every individual is so vast, so interwoven with so many lives, all that is past and present and with so many options and alternatives, that no computer in the universe could track the eternal dimensions of what happens in time.

When tragic things happen to people because of the evil or fallen nature of this world, their family and friends have the choice of succumbing to bitterness or growing in grace. Ultimately, the issue is not what you can understand and explain even to yourself, but your capacity to believe in the sovereignty of our heavenly Father. Remember not to measure events by your standards of justice, but leave the consequences to be tried by grace.
