Please know that I carry you in my heart. I think this journey thing is the thing that I would consider myself to be in a constant intercession for. It can be so hard especially when we start looking into those dark places of our soul with God's eyes.
Just remember that when he sees what you see he sees with compassion and love and tenderness. He is not put off in any way by our "lack of perfection". Remember that our righteousness is not dependent on ourselves but on Jesus and because of that we are as righteous on our worst day as we are on our best. Come to think of it - maybe more so. Jesus never did care much for the religious facade.
Keep this in mind. It's a quote I got off my IGoogle page:
Because things are the way they are,
things will not stay the way they are.
I found that very encouraging myself when I read it. To credit him - Bertolt Brecht, German Poet, Playwright and Theater Director.
There's a corresponding verse in Corinthians (I think) that says God will not place on us more than we can bear but will provide the way of escape. The Condordant Bible, a newer translation, says it more like this... God will not put us through anything that he is not already planning the sequel for. Larry will probably correct me even on my paraphrase but the point is that where ever we are on this road we are not in this place to stay put. God is moving relentlessly forward in his good plans for us and he is taking us with him so we will not always be where we are if we stay with him.
Another quote that I really liked is one that Larry sent me. I put it in an earlier post so you'll probably recognize it but it speaks to the work God does when we are not "seeing".
God Works in the Dark, Edna Cowman
''The Lord caused the sea to go back ... all that night.''In this verse there is a comforting message showing how God works in the dark. The real work of God for the children of Israel, was not when they awakened and found that they could get over the Red Sea; but it was ''all that night.''So there may be a great working in your life when it all seems dark and you cannot see or trace, but yet God is working. Just as truly did He work ''all that night,'' as all that day. The next day simply manifested what God had done during the night. Is there anyone reading these lines who may have gotten to a place where it seems dark? You believe to see, but you are not seeing. In your life-progress there is not constant victory; the daily, undisturbed communion is not there, and all seems dark.''
The Lord caused the sea to go back . . . all that night.'' Do not forget that it was ''all that night.'' God works all the night, until the light comes. You may not see it, but all that ''night'' in your life, as you believe God, He works. It is in this dark place that we either get mad and upset with God or whoever for our lives not being what we think they ought OR we choose to allow him to deal with whatever dark thing within us is found in that dark place. That's the real journey as God works in the dark, "all that night" to transform us into the image of the Son.
I love you my friends and my family. Our's is a Good and Faithful Father who always has our best eternal interets in his heart.

But why does it have to be so painful?!!
ReplyDeleteno, this is very encouraging, (and I know pain isn't always bad)
I love you too!
I am on a journey too, sometimes I think it is to nowhere, because I can't see anything before me. But I know that is not true, God is constantly moving me closer to Him by any means possible. Whether taking away, adding or simply being silent. I know He is in control of my life, even the parts I try to lord over myself. Pain is part of it also. I don't really mind the pain, especially when I compare it to the pain of not knowing Jesus, that helps me keep it in perspective. WE will all be fine, we have Jesus, we will make it and make it victoriously!
